Parents #4

What are some things you would like to talk to your parents about but feel you can't? Why don't you think you can talk to them about these things? How have you tried? What happened?

Use and CAPITALIZE one irregular verb in your response.

  3. Some times when there's drama at school and it's makeing me so upset I feel I wan't to tell my mom but when I get a chance to no words come out of my mouth. It's like I want to say it but I can't get the urge to. I think kids or as we are teenagers can't talk to our parents because it PUTS us in an akward situation. And, we don't want them to get involved.

Also, I sometimes can't tell my parents about test or quiz grades becuase I feel that they will get mad at me even though I tried my hardest. But, alot of the times my parents know I studied so hard and know I tried and don't really get as upset because they know I will always try my hardest to bring my grade up.

  4. If there's a problem at school I try to tell my parents, mostly my mom because my dad wants to stay out of it. I feel that if I try to TALK to them about this stuff, they WON'T understand. Unlike how in the last blog of the week we could tell a lot of our friends this stuff but not a ton of parents. I have TRIED in the past. Although when I TRY it feels like she doesn't listen to me!!! To me I feels like I'm talking into a mirror, your talking but nothing is COMING out!

  5. THERE SHOULD BE ABSOLUTELY NO PRESSURE ABOUT TALKING TO YOUR PARENTS!!!!! If there is pressure then you need help fast. Your parents have been the people that you have lived with and relied for all your life. If you get so HUNG up on a problem that you can't talk to anybody with. The first person that i would reccomend is your own mom or dad. They are the people who will help you with everything and get that big gorilla off your back.

  6. Adding to what I said before: There are alot of things I want to talk to my parents about. Girl trouble for instance. And popularity, grades, and just life in general. For example I arose one morning and then having BID my family farewell went for a walk before breakfast. And so all was fine and dandy. I went back inside and must have looked troubled b/c my mom asked what was wrong. Truth was that I got a bad grade on my Social Studies test and I was lamenting that I did not study. And I just don't feel like I can talk to my parents about grades. I don't think that I can talk to them about grades b/c then they will overreact and next thing I know I'll be grounded. I have tried before and I (being a smarticle-particle and all) have figured out what things make parents mad. Bad grades being one of them. what happened you ask? Well lets just say if looks could kill,I'd be pushing up daisies.☺

  7. I have never needed to talk to my parents about really anything. If I was in this situation I would FEEL scared or embarrassed to talk to them. The feeling would be aweful if I needed to talk to my parents. I would just need to find the courage in me to do the right thing. In most cases the right thing is to say everything you need to say. It would most likely work out because my parents are my role models and I know they would do anything for me that I needed. Well, anything I needed that was important.

  8. There is nothing that i really feel the need to talk to my parents about right now. I dont think that i can talk to them about my personal stuff, becasue i feel that they would tell people, and than those people would tell more people that i wouldn't like to know. I have tried to talk to my parents when i was younger, but they told people stuff back than so i can't trust them now. I only tell my friends stuff so i dont feel the need for me to tell my parents.

  9. I can't relate to this topic because I feel I can talk to me parents about anything. I KNOW I can go to my parents for anything because it builds a strong and honest parent and child relationship. I tried to not talk about stuff with my parents but then they stopped trusting me. So now I tell them things and I am honest with them.

  10. I can't think of anything I can't speak to my parent. I talk to them about anthing and they tell me alot and they don't tell my secrets and I don't tell their secrets so it's nice to have parents who I can talk to about anything and they are always ready to listen to what I have to say. My PARENTS are the best parents there could be.

  11. I'd like to talk to my parents about certain things that happen in school, but sometimes when I do what they say it only makes it worse. Its kind of like I RAN into a black hole. I keep getting sucked deeper and deeper into trouble. One time, when I was getting made fun of for a certain thing, I forget what it was, I talked to my parents about it and I tried what they said to do. It was walk away or something like that, the people making fun of me kept at it and eventually i got really frustrated. Sometimes, what your parents tell you to do might not work.

  12. There have been many times that I feel that I can’t talk to my parents. Some things are about problems with friends, and others are just random problems that have happened in the day. I feel that its sometimes awkward talking to my parents and it just makes me worried if I start telling my parents all the problems I have that they will always be asking if I had any problems that day. They will start getting to much into my life and I just won’t like it only some problems I can talk to them about like my sisters and other little problems. I have tired to talk to them and it has been very awkward and uncomfortable so I don’t talk to them about problems a lot. Well you want to know what happened……. well pretty much nothing me and one of my parents( mostly my mom) sat down and talked about the problem and after that it was done and that’s pretty much all u heard of it, in less the problem kept on happening. I’d rather talk to my friends that I truly trust instead of my parents.

  13. I usually tell my mom about all my problems. But one problem that I had was so big I just couldn't tell my mom. It was when all my friends were fighting. I actually firget what the problem was about, but both of my friends wanted my on their side of the argument. I felt like my friends were trying to tear me in half. Whenever I tried to talk to one of my friends, the other would get mad at me. I was mad becuase it seemed to me that my friends were trying to choose my friends for me. I couldn't tell my mom because I new she would say to just stay out of it, but I wanted to help my friends with their problems. It turns out that when I eventually told my mom aobut the situation, she gave me really good advice. When I look back at that moment, I realize that if I hadn't told my mom about the argument, I wouldn't know how to solve the problem. Now I tell my mom all my problems and she really helps me threw it.

  14. There are tons of things I don't feel comfortable talking with my parents about. I usually don't like to TALK about the bad days that I have at school. Or if I get emotional or CRY at one of the dances. Though, I'm okay with TELLING my parents about bad grades because my mom always says, "It's okay, atleast you did your best at WORKING hard.". So, I am starting to warm up to talking to them.

  16. Well most of the time when it comes to school drama I don't really tell my parents about much of the juicy details of what drama goes around. Most of the time I don't really feel comfortable talking to adults about girls, puberty, etc. It just doesn't feel right when I talk to an adult about those problems. Usually I will talk to an adult if I'm being bullied or something like that but stuff about girls, growing up, and how everybody in school is starting to change a lot, I usually tell my more popular friends that have experience with this stuff or has some advice for me. Talking to my dad about this is something I'd BE willing to do but what I don't like is that whenever I tell one of my parents, they say to the other. Which I don't feel comfortable with. And then we'll have the "If you ever need anyone to talk to, you can always talk to us" speech.

  17. I can mostly talk to my parents about anything. And i love that. My parents pretty much ask me whats going on and i just tell them. They never really seem to overreact. Although my dad is very overprotective. (frankie learned!) My mom is more chill but she does have some stupid rules which i always find a way to go around them or do them anyway and not get in trouble.

  18. BOYS, BOYS, BOYS!! I have trouble talking to my parents about boys... they always want to bring it up but it is just awkward and personal and i don't think that they would understand. My parents still think that 7th grade relationships are just calling eachother boyfriend and girlfriend. And they don't really understand what pre-teens and teenagers really are doing these days!

  19. One thing that I'm really uncomfotable talking to my parents about is the drama in my friendship circle when it involves guys. For example, at one of the dances last year, two of my friends both liked the same person but he only asked one of them to dance. She said "yes" while the other friend spent the duration of the slow song crying her eyes out in the girl's bathroom. I really felt like I was torn in two different directions because (like Lydia said) I wanted to try my best to comfort both of them and talk them through it, but one of the friends would glare at me if they caught me conversing with the other.
I feel like I can't talk to them about these things because they just don't understand what it's like to go through life in seventh grade. They're always saying "oh, I was in seventh grade once. I completley understand." Although, things are just so different now. I know they're just trying to help-- and I appriciate that, but the advice they give would only have affect on someone in highschool during the 1980s.
I have tried to talk about these type of things. Whenever I do, though, my mom will suddenly get tense as soon as the topic of guys comes up and she'll ask me a million questions. In the end, it just becomes extremely awkward.

  20. I agree with Sam C completelty. I can't relate to this topic either. I find it hard not to tell your parents anything. Think about it, there is always some sort of drama, and if it concerns you you should discuss it with your parents. I can't understand how you wouldn't talk with them about it. That's what your parents are for, they keep your secrets, and who are they suppost to tell besides you? You should always tell your parents your problems so they will be right there with you discussing the problems, and guiding you through it.

  31. This i can't really write about because i can usually tell my parents anything and they listen and don't really discuss it with other people.i learned how to trust my parents with anything that i tell them and i know they'll LISTEN and actually care about the stuff i say and find ways to fix it or help me with it. They'll always ask me like what's new and i usually discuss it with them. So communicating with my parents isn't really a big deal.

  33. Oh my gosh Dan, Sam Cuv, and Emily, agree completly!! :)
I don't feel it is hard to talk to my parents because I talk to them all the time. Half of the time my parents end up knowing more stuff than me. ( any of my friends could tell you this) I don't feel STRESSFUL telling them anything on my mind because I know I can trust them. No matter WHAT it is I am not afraid to let whatever I have to say, out. I feel like it's good to have my mom and dad know how I'm doing in school and all the gossip in my grade so that whatever i say it's not the biggest news in the world. Sometimes, the things I don't tell my parents are the stuff people have not not wanted me to tell anyone. But besides that, I have no problem talking to my parents at anytime i need. I feel like the kids who don't tell their parents anything are the ones who don't trust their parents. Which isn't a good part for either the parent or student. I mean it's YOUR parents! They have been there through it all. I think kids should do a little more telling to their parents becuase they want to know that you have their trust no matter what.

  36. First when I have a problem I always TALK to my parents. Mostly I TALK to my mom because she's a girl and will understand more than my dad who has had no experience. When i TALK to my mom it makes me RELAXES because i know she can handle it. If the problem is to big for my mom to take care of my dad always fixes anything. So you(as in anyone) should be carful of what you say/do because it could affect you in many activities. Anyone who wants to pick on me/friends or say anything not nice you better be careful how you SAY it because I'm VERY protective of my friends and family. I wouldn't care if I lose a friend protecting a friend. All i know is that i did it for a VERY good cause!!!

  37. I FEEL that I would like to tell my parents about my grades in school because I'm afraid they won't understand why I got a low grade. The reason I may have gotten a bad grade was because the teacher may have not been teaching me all of it the right way. So I am afraid to tell my parents that because they will say " it's your fault take responsibilities for your actions and stop blaming others for your mistakes." Actually I have tried telling my parents and they said " it's ok you tried hard and studied so you aren't at fault." I was surprised at this reaction from my parents and was happy I told them. Now i know to trust my parents and be confident in telling them my test scores even if they aren't perfect.

  39. "I wish that I could TELL my parents everything.", this is said by a lot of people, but not me. My mom usually knows everything that goes on in my life. I tell my mom about troubles in school, things I feel, and just my daily happenings. My mom always listens to what I have to say, even if it means more stuff filling up her brain. I really think that telling your parents everything is awesome, because it makes you feel better to get everything out into the open. 47. It can be very HARD to talk to your parents. I always want to tell my parents things that happen it school, but when it comes to telling them things like DRAMA or BOYS...I know they wouldn't understand me. It seems like they think only about the negatives! When it comes to tests or graded assignments, it can be hard to tell them what your grades are. You don't want them to get mad. You want them to KNOW you tried your best! When I go somewhere with my parents and something is bottled up that I really wanna tell them, it can be hard to tell them what's going on that bothers you. When they're right there next to you and the moment is perfect to tell them, you still can't. I think that making them understand you is the hardest part.

They have no way of putting themselves in my shoes because they both are the youngest. I FEEL that it's hard to communicate to someone who is like 4 times older than you. As for opening up with my parents that come pretty easy too. Getting the first quetion out thier is a little hard because you are never sure of the response you will get,but overall I have a pretty good realationship with my parents. But when it comes to your parents they key word "think" that they are a conisseur of everything so you should ask them for advice, that could strengthen your bond and the next time you have a problem it wont be so hard. And for mr. Gs question they shouldnt know everything because some things are better left unsaid.

  63. While I KNOW I can always trust my parents, I don't feel 100% comfortable talking to them. My mom is nice to talk to but I don't tell her everything. I FEEL like some things should just be things that I know. Some things I don't feel okay talking about are growing up, jealousy, boys, and all sorts of things, depending on the situation. But its just because I'm unsure of their reaction. I don't want them to think badly of me. I know they would probably understand, it's just that I don't think they would really 'think' the same way as me. It's hard to explain, but I have a feeling that if I tell my mom or dad something personal, its going to be stuck in their brain and they'll bring it up to a sibling. So I don't trust them with my personal feelings. Once I told my mom a secret and she thought it was 'cute' and told all of her adult friends. It left me feeling really embarrassed and disrespected. After that, I never ever told my mom a secret. It's kind of sad because my mom makes a good friend. And so does my dad, but I dont feel comfortable telling what I feel to a guy.
PS Mr G, I dont think parents should know everything about you. Just the things that they should know to keep you safe.

  65. I can say, that I can always go to my parents for help. I can talk to them about mostly anything and I know that I can trust them not to say anything. I must say though, sometimes talking to my parents can be a little akward, but after I decide to tell them I always feel much better about the situation. I feel like It is a good thing to be keeping them posted with my life, meaning grades and anything that goes on at school such as gossip. Letting parents know these things helps to reasure them that we have their trust. And also, I dont always tell them every little thing that goes on in my life because sometimes it is akward or I feel that I just dont want to say anything about whatever the topic may be.

The only thing that I don't like to talk about with them is if I got a bad grade because I don't know what my consequence would BE. But, anything else I would be fine talking about! The reason why I think that I can't talk about bad grades with my parents is because I don't want them to be mad at me for any reason what so ever. Yes, I have tired but before. My parents just tell me to try a lot harder next time to get your grades up and MAKE sure that you don't fail that subject at all. Really? and i cant deal with all of that. and mr.g i dont think your parents should know all about you, because its your own life your parents are not gonna be there every second of everyday. like when you are older you gotta take your own path and do what you think is right not what your parents think you should do. parents can only take you part of the way. then, your on your own. so, i dont really talk to my parents at all, and just only if its a evere problem like bulling or just whenever your depressed, not every second of everyday.

  71. mr. G....awesome question in light of recent news with kids feeling like they have no where to turn when they're being bullied...

  72. Mr.G ,
I feel that your parents have no business knowing everything about you. I am a human being too,so I have rights as human being to remain silent about myself. I mean does every little thing about yourself have to be told to your parents? It is none of there business if you have a girlfriend/boyfriend. Or if your going through puberty. This is the garbage I get all the time: "I AM YOUR MOTHER AND I GAVE BIRTH TO YOU" or "IT IS MY JOB TO KEEP YOU SAFE". I mean really is nothing sacred? I am allowed to have a couple secrets.
    ~Stewy~
p.s. BTW I agree w/ Matt M. 80,000,000,000%. I told my parents a secret and they told there friends, who told there friends and so on

  75. I could say that I tell my parents everything. I oculd say that I know that they will understand all things I want to tell them. But I wont. I tell my parents most things because if they ask questions and I dont answer, lets just say that I hope that the winodws are closed... But, the things I dont really like to tell them are about secrets. That really is about it. I fell like I shouldnt tell them my secrets because my sister would always ask what we are talking about. And since my mom likes to be honest, she would tell my sister. My sister on the other hand... I do not like to tell her things that I dont want many people to know because I know that, without meaning to, she blurts things out sometimes... I want to say that I trust my sister, and I do, but not with everything. She understands when it is about one of my friends, but its a different story when the info is about me or includes me. Yes, I have told her things before, and yes, she has blurted them out randomly. My parents are trustworthy, honest and reliable, but most of the teen stuff I keep to myself. (Yeah, I am not a teen, but the people around me are, so I think that counts... Maybe...)

  76. I don't FEEL like i can talk to my parents about bad things that happen in school like if someone gets in a fight or gets in trouble. I don't think i can tell them because i feel like they might talk to that persons parents perhaps. If i don't want to tell them i'll just talk to my older siblings about it because i know they won't say anything. Nice Brett agree.

  77. I TOTALLY agree with you Jordan Hill! I remember that dance. It was miserable for me too because I felt so bad about what had happened. And I might tell my parents a little bit when they ask.
    Example:

    MOM: "How was the dance?"
ME: "Not so good. There was a lot of drama" *Short pause* "Can you turn up the music?"

  79. I agree with Kaylee on this topic. I FEEL like I can talk to my parents about a lot of stuff, if not everything. Also, I noticed a lot of the students are posting things about how they don't talk to their parents about bad grades. I am comfortable talking about my grades because even if I did bad, my parents don't care as long as I studied and tried my best.

  81. With my parents, I usually never talk about drama at our school. Like when there is a dance, I never talk about all the people that get rejected by guys and start crying in the bathroom. Or if two of my friends got into an argument I wouldn't tell my mom or dad. Another thing that is that when we were in the sixth grade, I went to a sleepover and it was filled with drama. I can talk about my recent health issues and my grades because that is not a big deal to me. If I had tried to talk to my parents about drama at school, my mouth would have FROZE before I could even walk into the room.

  87. My family doesn't keep secrets from me and i don't keep any secrets from them. They understand me and love me for who i am....... mostly. I don't keep my grades from them because if i don't tell them or lie about my grade, my punishment gets bigger. My mom and sister were "mistreated" in school, meaning that they were bullied when about my age. I may not tell them directly or right away but when the time comes they'll find out sooner or later.

  88. Sometimes I feel I can't talk to my parents about grades or school drama. I know if I do poorly and I actually PUT effort into my work they would be completely upset and disappointed in me. I can't handle confortation. So if there is a problem in school (there usually isn't but if there is) I tell my promblems to a friend or my cousin. I have tried but I sometimes feel they are to preoccupied with my 16 year old sister and my 5 year old brother. I have never tried to talk to them about issues because I feel they would over react.

And i have broken those rules and it usally ended up with a bad streak. But i know reliaze that i should just follow those rules instead of braking them...... 92. It is very hard to relate to this topic because I can tell my mom almost anything. I am very comfortable with my mom like most people should be in my opinion. Anyway, I can tell my mom anything. But my dad on the other hand, sometimes I have a hard time telling him my test grades. Whenever I try, I get very nervous. One time in fifth grade I got a bad grade on a quiz but I TOOK the risk and told him. He wasn’t angry with but he was disappointed. He said to me in a very stern voice, “I want you to do a better job next time.” After that I had realized I had gotten worked up over nothing.

She always thinks she KNOWS right all the time, it gets really annoying sometimes. My dad on the other hand, I can talk to about things. Well, sometimes most of them or just like none of them. They ask wayyyyy too many questions and expect you to tell them everything.I wish I could tell my parents everything but their too nosy and always have to get too into stuff. When I don't study and get a bad grade my parents usually nag me and tell me "you shouldv'e TOOK more time to study. Sometimes parents just need to chill and not overreact as much as they do.

  98. It depends on the situation for me. If it is just about grades I have no problems but if it is about other things such as personal things it would be much more difficult and aquard. In my memory i have not talked to my parents about something personal and I don't see why i would. I have delt with things in the past pretty well and I now I will make the right choices. Telling your parent EVERYTHING in my opinion, is not something that needs to happen but if is something urgent i strongly advise it. That is my opinion on the situation.

Some things that are worse I dont have a problem with because if i tell them they will just act like I didnt do anything. 102. There are many things that I can and cannot talk about with my parents. For example drugs and other things that can screw your life are things that I can talk about with my parents because I know they’ll understand and not belittle me for bringing it up. But there are other things that I just can’t tell them because I don’t want to get in trouble. I think most of you know what happened with me and John and that’s one of the things I can’t talk to my parents but I should have.
I think I can’t talk about this stuff in front of my parents because it makes me feel awkward talking to them about it. And I think that’s how other people feel too. You just can’t let your parents know everything about your social life.

Although, i do very much love them but whenever i tell them something they usually go off and tell another parents which i very much dislikee...:/ Some thing i can not talk to them about is about if something about what my friends did, wheather if it was bad or not, i dont want them to think bad about them. This has happened to me before. This was a bad thing so of caourse they said that i couldn't hang out with this person not that much anymore. 115. There are some things that I wish I could tell my parents that I FEEL I cant even say them on here!! I FEEL I cant talk to them about most things is parcially because I feel is they wont understand. I tried it before. I tried talking about my problems and I was scolded. Now I've learnedno matter what situation I'm in (I'm really sorry I'm saying this but . . .) I really cant talk about it to my parents. Well, really I dont have any parents to talk to about anything with, I have a great aunt and uncle. They are a teenie bit older, and I dont want to explain why but I think that, that effects there ability to understand my problems. I usually talk to my friends about those things because I wont get scolded about those things. Because a lot of the time they might have same problem. I just feel that I cant talk to my aunt and uncle all that much and sometimes that makes me a little upset, but I feel its the only thing I can do.
