Blog # 23: Three Things

If you had to evacuate your home because of a natural disaster, what three things would you take with you and why?

You cannot take people or pets. It is assumed they all got out safely.

121 comments:

  1. If I had to evacuate my home, my top 3 things would be:
    1. A big blanket, for warmth if I get cold, plus, it can hold things, so it could be a carrying case.
    2. My cell phone so I can call people if I needed shelter, and for when I get bored, because it has games on it, or I could just talk to someone.
    3. Extra clothing (as much as I could carry in the blanket)

  2. That question is really hard. If I could take people, I would take my mom, dad, and my sister. But, since they are all thankfully safe in this scenario, I would take these three things.
    1. I would take something special to me. It is a little stand, about six inches tall, and has a bible verse on the front. The reason I would choose this is because, other than my family, it is my only link to my Pop-Pop who passed away when I was about three. I really cannot remember him, so I always just look at that and it helps me to know that he will always be with me in one form or another.
    2. I know that it sounds kind of selfish, but I would probably take my iPod. I use it all the time and, well, it would make me feel more at home if I had it with me.
    3. I would take this doll that I have had since the day I was born. I am saying this literally. It was given to me from my aunt the ACTUAL day I was born. It is special to me, and I know that almost everyone has an item that was special to them in their childhood. I just can't imagine parting with it.

I am assuming that you have food, water, and clothes and anything else that you need to survive. My answers would be completely different if those things would not be provided.

  3. I would bring food, not just "people food" food for my dog, my cat, my bird, and food for me and my family assuming we wouldnt be provided it. Clothing and/or things to protect me from the elements. The pictures of my mom. They are the only exsisting pictures of her and i cant let her become just a forgotten scrap of paper amongst the rubble and debri of what would be left of my home from the natural disaster.

  4. If I were to save 3 things from a natrual disaster they would be, my FIRST gotten gymnastoics metal because it was memmories, my favorite necklace given to me by my grandmother because she gave it to me a long time ago, and the bracelet my cousin gave me before she moved because i miss her alot and never get to see her at all. ~Elizabet Andress

  5. If i ever had to leave my home because of natural disaster, then i would take a picture of me and my mom, my mommy bear which was made for me like 4 or 5 years ago out of her pajamas, and my pets. I would choose these things because they are all important to me.

  7. If I had to evacuate my home I would love to bring all of my stuff but if i had to choose three they would be food and water so i wouldn't die. The next thing i would bring would be clothes so that i can change. Lastly i would bring my stuffed bunny, Sherbert, because i cant go to sleep without him:):)

  8. I would take out my... food. I would grab as much food as I can fit into a plastic bag b/c who knows if we will ever get food again. I would also take my bike so I can get around and my phone. That way I can contact loved ones. That is just the important stuff.

  9. I would take my makeup, clothes, and shower stuff! I need to look good, wear clothes so im not naked, and definitley still have a good hygiene! So thats all the stuff and the reasons why i would grab those for my life if i was in a disaster!

  11. Only three things? I don't think i can decide. well, maybe i can. I'll give it my best shot. First, I would take a nicklace that my great aunt had. It's special because she's not alive anymore and it's the only item that i have that reminds me of her. The second thing i would bring is the ring that my cousin in Germany got me. I rarely get to see her because, well duh!, she lives in Germany! I love when she comes and visits because she is really fun to be around and you can't help smiling when she is around. And finally, dun dun dun, the third object!!!!

My third object is the most important to me. The picture of my dog Cody. He past away when i was young, and he was and always will be my best friend. I always hear people talking about how they have dogs, and i automatically think of Cody. I miss him and always will. But i know he's happy up there in doggy heaven, chasing chipmunks and squirrels to his heart's delite. i love you Cody. :)

  14. If I had to take 3 things becuase my house had a natural diaster I would take my phone, old pictures of my family and I, and my laptop . I would take my phone so I could call for help if some-one is injured or to help the situation. I would bring old pictures because I want to remeber what a person looked like and all the good times that had been captured. And finally I would also bring my laptop becuase it was alot of money and it's valuable to me.

  15. This is a very difficult question. Well, if the three most important things(besides my dog and my family) they would have to be these items:
    1. MY DIABETIC SUPPLIES!!!! DUH!!! I couldn't survive without them!
    2. My baby blanket. I have it in a very safe spot in my closet where I can always get to it. It is very special to me because I've had it since I was born. Oh, I it's name is Acqui. (i don't know how to spell it because I was a little baby when I named my blanket that) :-)
    3. My cellular phone? Laptop? IPod? I would take something to do with electronics. I would take it because you could contact someone for help and shelter.

Well those are my three things that I would bring. Diabetic supplies, baby blanket, and a electronic of some sort.

    Laura Pfeffer

P.S. If I had 4 things the fourth thing would probably be the Bible or a Prayer book so I could pray to God.

    ReplyDelete
  16. My Ipod, cellphone, and nintendo DS with all my chargers pluged into them so they come along as well. They enterteain me the most and I really enjoy being entertained by them. And cool things on my ipod.

    Ian Mastroianni

  17. I wouldn't really need to bring anything with me because my parents would just collect money from the state so i could get all new stuff. But if i had to get three things i would probably try to save my cellular phone, my x box, and my ipod.

  20. If I could only take 3 things, it would be my birth certificate, my signed baseball, and a couple bags of chips. I would need my birth certificate so I can prove who I am. I would want my signed baseball because it is one of the most valuable things I have. And last but not least, I would need a couple bags of chips because I need to eat and I love food.
    Brad Jankowski

  21. Well... I would take my personal belongings such as ID and birth certificate, because they are very important to demonstrate who I am.
Another thing I would take with me is medicine, because I might need it in case I am sick.
Finally, I would take with me extra clothes and blankets in case I need to get warmed.

  23. I would definitely grab the keys for my shore house so we could go there so we would have a place to stay(hopefully it would be summer time) if that event ever occurred. And then I would take some food, and then I would go get our boat and jet skies and some how get them on the trailer. Most of our stuff is at our shore house because we go to our shore house more then our actual house in Shamong . So I guess it's nice to have a back-up plan, we are fortunate enough to have that other option :)

  45. Thank goodness family and pets got out safe because I have four sisters, two dogs, and two parental units. The first item I would take with me would be my purple plaid blanket. I would take this because it has been mine ever since I was born and it sort of comforts me in tough situations. Agreeing with Tyver, I would bring my lacrosse stick. I would never be able to love without lacrosse. I don't think I would need my cell phone because my mom's is surgically attached to her, so I would bring my ipod with me as my third item. The only reason for this is because I like to sing and music keeps me alive everyday.

  46. If my home was being evacuated from a natural disaster I would have to bring my jewelry box, not just because I have my expensive jewelry in there, it is also because that is where I keep my money. I would also bring my toothbrush because I don’t like having a dirty mouth and I need to keep my braces clean. I would also bring all my medicine because without it I would die of a peanut reaction or an asthma attack.

  99. I do not understand why people love lacrosse so much. Can someone please enlighten me as to why it is so important. Nothing compares to flopping out on the couch on a rainy day with a blanket, Dr. Pep, and a "Family size" bag of Bar-B-Q chips. Guess it's just me.
    ☺~$tewy~☺
P.S I have an old lacrosse stick in my basement if any of you athletic nutjobs want it.☺☺☺

  100. Some of you need to answer "why?" you would bring those things.

For me, I would have to take all ofthe dvd's of my daughter, her footprints from the hospital, and the last birthday card my dad ever gave me.

My reasons all deal with sentimentality.

  104. This is a really hard question to answer because I a lot of things that have sentimental value. The first thing that I will grab is my stuffed animal doggy Harbor. He is the most important thing to me and he is extra special because my Grammy got him for me when I was three. My second thing would probably be my Hamster's pink car because she needs to exercise and have a place stay. My third thing would be my picture of my Poppy, Grammy and I because I was very little and they are very important to me.

  110. Three things I would bring would be... my cellular phone because to be honest I don’t think I would be able to live without it, also it will give me a way to call the police involving the natural disaster. I would also bring my blanket because I’v had it since I was a baby and I can’t sleep with out it and finally I would bring money because I would need to buy food and all.
