I recently heard this song and was deeply inspired by the lyrics. LISTEN to the lyrics and give your interpretation of the song. What is Matisyahu trying to say? Will the world ever be a peaceful place?
I think Matisyahu is trying to say that there will be a day where everyone just comes to their senses and realize they dont need to fight. That's what he means when he says, "All my life, I've been waiting for, I've been praying for the people to say that we dont want to fight no more, there'll be no more wars, and our children will play."
My favorite part of the song is when he says, "Sometimes in my tears I drown, but I never let it get me down." On my iTouch I love getting quotes to put as my background. I have two of my favorite quotes that relate to that part of the song. One quote is, "When life gives you a hundred reasons to cry, show life that you have a thousand reasons to smile." Then the second one is, "When the world says, "give up" Hope whispers, Try it one more time"
Matisyahu is trying to say that he is waiting for the day that humans wake up. I mean how long has the Afghanistan/Iraq war(I forget which one we are in right now) been going on? Since like 2003 right? One day we will be shaking our heads and thinking "Man, we were really stupid". But until that day where we wake up, we will still have stuff like car bombs blowin up. ~Stewy~

Although it was a great inspiring song there may not ever be world peace. People will be fighting till the end on time because we cant learn how to get along. This song says what any humanbeing wants... PEACE. To me this song says war, hate, and jelousy will be put to a slow hault. When I say "a slow hault," peace will come to all, but its only going to get worse before it gets better. Just make sure you keep your hope and it will soon come.

In my opinion I think that Matisyahu is trying to say that one day humans will wake up and realize that they've been wasting their lives fighting over stupid things. The world will then no longer be at war and there will be a perfect Utopia. I don't think that our human race will ever be at peace, because we always envy what others have and that's why were at war in the first place.
In this song, Matisyahu is trying to create peace in this world. Matisyahu starts the song by talking about his own thoughts and beliefs. But as the song continues, he is trying to say that we should think as one, and that all of us should think positivley worldwide. And as it continues it talks about how we have our own job in our lives and we are all good at something. In the chorus, he says,
All my life I been waitin' for I been prayin' for, for the people to say That we don't want to fight no more They'll be no more wars And our children will play
This suggests that he wants no war, and no matter what race or nationality, it doen't matter, and the kids will just play together happily. He also manages to say that this will take time, and it wont be easy. He continues by saying that we, as one, have to stop wars and create a world of peace and that in life, you can easily get off track. He ends the song by saying that we should put aside all the racial hate, and discrimination and just try to all get along and how we can improve our world.

I think what he is saying is that we need to stop the violence and harassing people and praying until those better days come. For a better future for the kids when he says and the children will play", he means a better future. Just praying and prayig but, you should pray but also thats not going to solve everything, you have to make a change. Make the world a better place by setting an example and people will eventually follow and not be haters but lovers, and think about this we only have 1 world, and we arre capable of distroying it.
I agree with Jimmy and CJ. If we don't live life to the fullest than what's the point of living? Don't we want our kids to live in a peaceful, beautiful place? We should all just get along and live happy lives. But sticking to what Jimmy said, the world will never be really, truly, peaceful. There will always be one person, or many people, who don't agree with the rest of the world. But who would you be if you agreed with everything? there will always be conflict in the world, whether we like it or not. But for now, why don't we all try to make the world a better place. I think the message of the song is to inspire us to start making the world a better place while we are still on this Earth becuase we only live once and we only have one life to make a difference before it's too late. So I think Matisyahu is trying to make a point in saying if we join together as a nation then it would actually be possible to make this world a MUCH better place. And what better time then to start NOW? Before we know it our kids will be growing up in the same kind of environment that we did (or possibly even worse because that's where it looks like we're heading.) I don't want that for my future children.

They both happened in August of 1990 or 1991 i forget ha ha. They started with air strikes, then battleships bombarding the coast and stuff. Basically I think he is trying to say that he wants the people of the world to stop fighting and work together. Obviously that is going to be hard, because when you think about it we have so much fighting and war. So i think that he just wants us all to get along.

I think that this song is about people being prejudice. There are many "dumb" people in the world and i'm not trying to be rude. Just like what Caitlin had said "the stuff that people argue about can be stupid sometimes." She is right, of course. If everyone could actually use their brains once and a while, everything might be better. But fighting will always go on. Everyone has to be in everyone else's conversations. Everyone has to be right. And if you don't agree with me... think back to your last argument with your dad, or mom, or especualy an OLDER OR YOUNGER SIBLING!!!! Fighting has begun since the dawn of time, and won't end until the end of life!!!!!!

What I think Matisyahu is saying is that one day all the bad things in life and the world will stop. The wars will go away and so will hatred.

In my opinion I think that Matisyahu is trying to say that one day humans will wake up and realize that they've been wasting their lives fighting over stupid things. The world will then no longer be at war and there will be a perfect Utopia. I don't think that our human race will ever be at peace, because we always envy what others have and that's why were at war in the first place.

In this song, Matisyahu is trying to create peace in this world. Matisyahu starts the song by talking about his own thoughts and beliefs. But as the song continues, he is trying to say that we should think as one, and that all of us should think positivley worldwide. And as it continues it talks about how we have our own job in our lives and we are all good at something. In the chorus, he says,

This suggests that he wants no war, and no matter what race or nationality, it doen't matter, and the kids will just play together happily. He continues by saying that we, as one, have to stop wars and create a world of peace and that in life, you can easily get off track. He ends the song by saying that we should put aside all the racial hate, and discrimination and just try to all get along and how we can improve our world.

I think that this song is trying to tell you that there will be no more fghting, sorrow or worrieness about the world. That it will once become something that it's not. Everyone's peaceful, no ones fighting. One day, this is telling us, one day may be the day this all might happen. One day the world will be a better place. This song says to me that he wants everyone to just stop and look around and take a look at what everyone does to each other and come to think, hey we should stop this at one point or anothe soon.'

I think what he is saying is that we need to stop the violence and harassing people and praying until those better days come. For a better future for the kids when he says and the children will play", he means a better future. Just praying and prayig but, you should pray but also thats not going to solve everything, you have to make a change. Make the world a better place by setting an example and people will eventually follow and not be haters but lovers, and think about this we only have 1 world, and we arre capable of distroying it.

I agree with Jimmy and CJ. If we don't live life to the fullest than what's the point of living? Don't we want our kids to live in a peaceful, beautiful place? We should all just get along and live happy lives. But sticking to what Jimmy said, the world will never be really, truly, peaceful. There will always be one person, or many people, who don't agree with the rest of the world. But who would you be if you agreed with everything? there will always be conflict in the world, whether we like it or not. But for now, why don't we all try to make the world a better place. Maybe we will get something out of it, maybe not. But we will get this... We will get the warm fuzzy feeling of knowing that you helped do something great.

I think this song is saying that if you have hope that anything is possible. In the song he sings about peace and happiness. All of that is accomplished with hope. In the future, I believe it is possible for the world to become a peaceful place but if it will happen I guess we will just have to wait and see.

I think the message of the song is to inspire us to start making the world a better place while we are still on this Earth becuase we only live once and we only have one life to make a difference before it's too late. So I think Matisyahu is trying to make a point in saying if we join together as a nation then it would actually be possible to make this world a MUCH better place. And what better time then to start NOW? Before we know it our kids will be growing up in the same kind of environment that we did (or possibly even worse because that's where it looks like we're heading.) I don't want that for my future children.

P.S. Stewy, our interactions actually started with Operation Desert Storm/Shield. They both happened in August of 1990 or 1991 i forget ha ha. They started with air strikes, then battleships bombarding the coast and stuff. But, I think there were more secretive Operations before this ha ha.
I really liked your post, Jimmy. You made a good point in saying that "you have to live every day like it's your last". I think that's definatley true, too. That's why I wear this bracelet that says "LIVE" everyday.

ReplyDeleteBasically I think he is trying to say that he wants the people of the world to stop fighting and work together. Obviously that is going to be hard, because when you think about it we have so much fighting and war. So i think that he just wants us all to get along.
I think maybe one day we can achieve that, but it is going to take a long time. Yeah it would be great, but now everyone thinks about mostly themselves. Some people want this to, and it will be easy for them to get this through their heads... but other people have a lot of learning to do.

I don't think it's going to happen,as nice as it would be,because alot of these countries won't give up until they get only what they won't and no inbetween. I think that this song is about people being prejudice. This really stands out to me in the chorus where they say “All my life I’ve been waiting for, I’ve been praying for, for the people to say that we don’t want to fight no more, there will be no more war, and children will play.” If people start to look beyond each other’s differences, then there could peace on this world. Then maybe these could come true all over the world.

We were all made for one reason, to live and come together as one. But we are killing and straving our own people. I think that if people tried to take a stand to prevent this it will happen! Matisyahu is trying to say that he’s waiting for humans to finally notice that we don’t need these things and they don’t need to happen. I agree with him he wants wars to stop and everyone can just not fight and get along.
