A society that places the value of survival above all else can become a barbarous place, devoid of the luxuries of civilization. What in Kira's world is uncivilized and what must change in order for it to become civilized?
Alot of things have not really evolved or gotten better in Kira's civilization. They have no proper way of communication and no real job requirments. Because their town recently started again they don't have any respect for the beauty of life. If you are not perfect or can not benifit to the toen, you are a waste of space, food and shelter. They could start living a life where you can help others and start some sort of order with jobs. They could also expand their city to suit more people and make space for people who are injured or broken.
I think that the Fen is very uncivilized and should be fixed. In kira's world they don't really have the values and respect in that particular area of the swappy woods. To be civilized I believe that tykes in the Fen should get a proper education and learn manners and use them in everyday life. Another thing that they can do is that they can try to clean up the enviorment known as the Fen.(like take the dead rats out of the puddles) -Rachel Disipio-
I think that the people have to change to live there and like adapt to were she lives. Just like Kira had to get ajusted into her new living style. In Kira's world, a lot of the things that go on are uncivalized. They don't have a very good form of government. I eman, they have the Council of Guardians, but if they had a good government like we do, people would not be killed again and again. For them, it is a regular thing for someone to be taken to the Field for minor injuries/disabilities. But, for us, if someone breaks a bone, they go to the hospital and get a cast. In my oppinion, what we do is better, because human life is not somehting we should take for granted!They really need to see the true value of human beings! For their everyday lives to be more civalized, they need to make more rules. For example, sure, it is a good thing that they have the rule that if someone dies without the council being involved then the causer of death must die. They could make that rule better by instead making it a rule that you cannot kill anyone. Someone always breaks the rules, so they should make some kind of place to LOCK UP people that break the law instead of killing them. So anyway, they need to change their government in order to become more civalizized people. If less people die, then their establishment expands!

In the book, there are many things that are uncivilized. An example is when people get sick. The other villages don't even try to help them, they just keep living their lives like nothing happened. Then they just carry the dead person to the Field of Leaving, and leave them there to rot. You have to admit that's pretty mean and disgusting. Another example is when a baby is born with a "problem". Like in Kira's case, they wanted to kill her, just bacause she had a bad leg. If you look at it from their point of view, that kind of makes sense. Look at it this way. If a baby was born with a bad leg, they could not do work, and they would just use up food. Now, i'm not saying that we should start killing babies, but at least the villagers in the book had a reason for murder. My third example is that when there is a sickness in the village and someone catches it, they burn their whole cott down. Kira's mother caught a bad disease, and after she died, Kira had almost nothing left. Our diseases aren't like that. If someone gets sick, we don't do that! It sound's like madness to us! The most we do is........ well i don't think we do anything serious. At least my family doesn't. I'll finish later.
In Kira's village to become civilized they must change that people have to be put to death for things. Thats what makes it uncivilized is the fact they are so cruel to one another.
What is uncivilized is the way their civilization runs around. It is pretty of uncivilized compared to ours. Their technology should be improved. There technology is quite as advanced as ours. If it all becomes more up to date it should be more civilized.
The things that need to be civilized in this time is they have to learn to treat one another with R-E-S-P-E-C-T, that is something the world we are in today still has to learn. If they learn to love and respect one another there life might be getting back to the way it was before the Ruin. The people treat the tykes like they are dirt in that society.
I think something that is uncivilized in Kira's community is the way they kick there tykes around and abuse them. It's not nice to hit little kids and shows alot about the person's character. Then when the tyke's get older they will abuse/hit there kids too. If Kira's community helped try to change this I think the tykes will not run askew.
Ok i have a reasonable explination for not finishing my blog. You see, I was doing it at recess, but the time was up so I had to go. Sorry. :( But luckily i know what part of the question i was at. Let's begin. :P
My reasons why Kira's village is uncivilized are as follows: 1. When somebody gets sick, they do nothing to help that individual 2. When somebody in the village dies of a sickness, the villagers burn the whole cott 3. When a baby is born with a disability, they are killed on the spot before they "recieve their soul"
For the first example of their uncivilized village, there is an answer to become civilized. If somebody is sick HELP THEM! They can at least try to keep them alive for as long as they can. For the second example, don't burn the whole cott. From the discriptions in the story, I don't think the diseases they catch are contagious. If they were, how would their family members stay healthy? If you ask me, I would say they are just wasting valuable time and resources if they build a cott, JUST LIKE THE ONE THEY JUST BURNT DOWN! For the third example, sure, the baby might now be perfect, but it will probuably be helpful in its own special way. Just take Kira for example. She had a twisted leg, but she was an AMAZING threader! Just because someone is not perfect, doesn't mean they're not special.
In Kira's world the way they treat and teach their tikes is uncivilized. They let them run around like wild banshees. But when they don't do what their parents tell them they throw rocks at the tikes or slap them really hard. The tikes make the other work more stressful and make life chaotic. If the tikes would just calm down a little and the parents would just teach them better manners and maybe learn some themselves Kira's town would be a lot more civil and relaxed them maybe the people wont be so angry.
I think that for it to become civilized is for their kids to wear more clothes! (That's a start!) I don't think they should just cover the body when someone dies!!!! It's like they're trying to cover a crime scene!!!! They should take off for a while to rememeber their loved one! Not just one person sit with the leaving spirit. That's all I have right now. If I think of anything else I will post it!
For Kira's civilization to become civilized the council of guardians has to tell the people of the town the truth. Then trust has to be built between the council of guardians and the towns people. Then more food has to come so the town stops fighting over table scraps like dogs in the wild. When it is know that their are no beasts the hunters can stay out longer to get more food. Also the women to the town need to nurture their children, and not throw them in a loveless cot with chickens all day. In Kira's world, it is uncivilized that there is no running water for any of the homes in the Village or in the Fen except for the Council of Edifice. In my opinion, I think that is greedy of the guardians and I think they should share that luxury with all of the other citizens in that area. -Jordan Hill 7-4

The things that are uncivilized in Kira's society are that they kill poeple that are perfectly imperfect. Everyone in our society is special in there own way and is treated the same: with respect. The people in Kira's world are different in society because they don't care for things the way we do. People disrespect children and dont bother washing them. They also use trenchant words towards kids. In our world we treat kids kindly so they dont get hurt. Kids are like a treasure to most people in our world. I think that for Kira and the rest of her village to have a civilized society and government they should all just learn to get along. You would think the gathering would bring them all together, but it really doesnt.

What is uncicilized in kira's world is draggers taking dead people to the feild to die, And to get taken by beasts. That is very uncivilized in my opinion, just put the dead people in graves under ground or something! Like who does tht, i mean very uncivilized. To change it put them in graves. Another thing that is uncivilized is killing people who are unperfect. To fix that proble is like to "help the broken, make them unbroken." Another uncivilized thing is how the parents treat there tykes. They put them in pens with animals with the fence wrapped with thorns to keep them in. To fix this problem is to let them have a playground and keep them amused.
In Kira’s world it is uncivilized that people do not tell the truth like the Council of Guardians for the civilization to become civilized is for everyone to know the truth. I think that the people in Kira's world need to stop living in fear and go places and explore. They could rebel against the government and they would probably win, and they could expand. Instead of killing people for being injured at birth, they could accept them and live with them and not look down on them. People can change and help disabled people.
For Kiras civilization to become more civilized the people of Kiras village have to stop arguing and have more respect for human life. In Gathering Blue, the civilization is very poor.The sick and broken are treated in very inappropriete ways(taken to the field) and living conditions tend to be the oppisite of luxerious. Many people live in dirty, disgusting huts, children are abused without punishment, and lots of the humans are verryyyyyy hungery!This could be improved by the people getting new rulers, expanding their without the fear of beasts, appoint doctor and lawyer positions, ect. -Adrian Jones

In Kira's civilization, they are very uncivilized in the way they disperse their food. they said that you can only have food if there is a hunter in the family. And if you want vegetables you have to grow them yourselves. And in the ways that people die. If they are sick they are brought to the field, if they are hurt or have a broken bone they are brought to the to die.
In Gathering Blue, the civilization is awful. If you are sick or have a broken bone they kill you(take you to the field). It's not good at any circumstances. Like their living conditions. They live in old cotts(log cabin with mud to keep logs together)that are surrounded by mud.

I think the thing that's wrong in Kira's civilization is the struggle for food. People are stealing and it's not right. Their hunts are extremely dangerous too. They need to find a way to make peace.
Kira's village is uncivilized because they are living like people lived in the B.C. ages. Their only transportation is walking. They could change it by having the guardians be able to make high tech stuff and have the knowledge be passed down.
I beleive that Kira's village is un civilaized because its lack of care. People dont care for their toddlers as a "prize" but as slaves. And for people who are crippled, like kira are sent to the feild of leaving by the unfair ruling of the selfish government. They show no sympathy for those who are cripple, have diseases, or even for their own tykes. The people smack the tikes willingly to teach them right from wrong. Instead of smacking teach them with words or praises. I think that if this change would be made Kira's village would be enhanced. I think things would all work out, people caring, working together. In kira's town your are considered uncivilized if there is "something wrong with you". To everyone kira is useless beacuse of her broken leg. She's told that she will not be married. I dont think that it should matter if your leg is broken, or anything else. You can still work, and you can still walk! So it shouldn't matter if your not the same as the other people in the town!
they need to learn how to use their gut. if you think there aren't well that your opinion. the council of edifice need to learn that they arn't on the top of the world. people show have rights the same as them because all people are equal. at least half of the deaths in Kira's village is probably from Jamison. he is a sick, blood thirsty man. those couple last of chapters totally changed my perspective of Jamison. at first i was like this is great Kira is staying and has somebody that is caring, nice, and cares about her. well i was completely wrong. one little thing could change EVERYTHING! adriana tirado

What I think is uncivalized in Kira's society is that they take anybody that is "broken" like Kira to the feild of leaving beacause everyone thinks they aren't useful. But kira was useful in a couple of ways. The council people should make a spot like the fen for the "broken" people. Maybe then would Kira's society be civalized.
the village is a gross place for people to live, but Kira is lucky and live in the council edifice. She lives better than anyone. When she first went there, she had no idea what a bathroom was, Thomas had to tell her. She thought she had to make her own food. The people in the village have such a worst life than Kira and Thomas have. Kira and Thomas get there food brung to them while everyone else need to grow it or buy it with little money they have. The council should take everyone's houses and make them just like the Edifife. The people are living in dirt made houses. Mabye if they had nicer houses, there attitude would change. I feel bad for everyone who has to live like this.

Basically everything in Kira's village is uncivilized the only part of Kira’s village that is civilized is what the Council Edifice has. So in order for everyone to become civilized they would need to stop basing people on physical appearances and their physical strengths. Once that happens, people could start building a new civilization that is more advanced.
In my opinion MOST (if not ALL) of the world that Kira had to live in was uncivilized. They were selfish, cruel, HATEFUL, criticizing, individuals that had know other way to live other than the way they were taught. They were not taught to love, care, rationalize, and be fair. So if people are taught to be this way, so will their children, who might even take it to the next level, making their civilization crumble to the ground. For example, they did not love one another, unlike Kira who was taught much differently than the others in the village, partially because she wasn't LIKE everyone else.
Orphaned children were not given to other relatives. They were given away. Like Kira, yes, she was old enough to care for herself but she still qualified as a child to the village and the council of guardians. She could of been given to her uncle. But her uncle was loosing his children as well, when his wife and infant died his small daughter Mar was given away! What sense does that make? YES Mar's mother died but the father was still there! People who were sick, dying, dead, or just imperfect at birth were sent to the field,... TO DIE. A little harsh don't ya think?
The Council of Guardians (mainly Jamison) were horrible too! They lie about beasts, to frighten the people out of leaving the village so they remain in control. Jamison... JAMISON, HE WAS HORRIBLE. He kills Kira's father for power and lies TO EVERYONE about it, even the other guardians.
People should never live that way. They should have freedom from the government and well, free WILL. I think that Thomas, Kira, and Jo realized that (well maybe not so much Jo) and I think they will be the ones to make a change. Take over, start over and fix the problems the other people have made, leading the civilization into something better, fair, kind, and loved.
In Kira’s civilization people need to learn to trust each other. The Council of Edifice also needs to tell the people that the truth about other things like how there are no beast.

There are many different things that are uncivilized in Kira's village. One of them is that people have no respect for others. People will just do anything they feel like, unless it's a rule against the Council of Guardians. If they want, they will just take each others' belongings, like food and supplies, much like how the village lady took Kira's food in her garden towards the beginning of the book. Another way that the village is uncivilized is the language and manners. Most people in the village don't know proper speech, like the people in the Fen and Annabella. Unlike them, Kira, Thomas, and some other people in the village, mostly in the Council, know proper grammar and speech. People like Matt and other tykes don't know it, but they're tykes. Little. People don't know proper manners either, so they'll just do things impolitely and not even care. People in the Fen are just like that. They beg for something until they get it, and they will do just about anything for food. From the book, I think that the people from the Fen are always making deals with everyone to make it always a fair trade. They never do a favor for someone. To me, that seems pretty uncivilized. How can they fix all this? I think that for starters, the people in the village could corporate with one another and do favors. They could also show respect for others. Another way that they could fix it is if the Council of Guardians gave more food and land to the Fen, there would be less arguing over there and the deals wouldn't be a frequent. The Council, Kira, Thomas, and other people that had proper grammar and speech could even teach it to others, even tykes, so maybe they would be a more civilized village. ~~Alyssa Matchett~~
I think that most of kiras town is uncivilized. They dont really care about personality they just care about what people can do. One thing that is really uncivilized about kiras village is that they get rid of people that arent perfect.which could be a big mistake, if they hadent kept kira alive, they might not have someone to repare the singers robe for them . Also, they are very crul to their children which is very mean and they should treat all people with respect.
It is uncivilized because they just based it on you strenghths ansd weaknesses and they arent really focusing on what importent, like trying to improve it with intellegance. Although once they start doing that they will become civilized.
In Kira's world there are a lot of uncivilized events that happen throughout the village. There's stealing,and people are dragged to the field even if they're not all the way dead. Another thing that is uncivilized is that there are no real jobs. They could do lots of things to change the civilization. First of all they could try to heal the sick so there aren't as many people that are dragged to the field. Second of all they could assign jobs that fit to the person so that the jobs are done efficiently and people can enjoy what they do at the same time.
Kira's town is uncivilized because they expect EVERYBODY to be perfect. Like what the heck! Nobody is perfect. Have you ever broken a bone before? Yes? Well then you you have to die. That is one of the examples for them to be perfect. Another reason that Kira's city is uncivilized is because they need to learn to love and respect for others. Kira's village is very barbaric and People are killed everyday. I think the Fen is the most uncivilized the most because there isn't a school and they can't learn anything except how to protect themselves. The only thing they can protect themselves is like a rock. The people that live only wear rags and don't have any clean clothes or protective clothes. They also live in little mud and stick huts that can fit about two people when they have like ten people in there. I think that the one thing that is uncivilized in Kira's world is the way the Council of Guardians treats people. The one way is that when people have to die or died they put them in the field. I think that it is disrespectful for thier town todo that to their community. If only people would know how and why they are doing this would be a big fight. Can you imagine this happening in our town? There would be such a rucus I wouldn't even know how to stop it! So that is what I think needs to be fixed in Kira's world so that is can stay safe and civilized.:)

Then they just carry the dead person to the Field of Leaving, and leave them there to rot. You have to admit that's pretty mean and disgusting. Another example is when a baby is born with a "problem". Like in Kira's case, they wanted to kill her, just bacause she had a bad leg. If you look at it from their point of view, that kind of makes sense. Look at it this way. If a baby was born with a bad leg, they could not do work, and they would just use up food. Now, i'm not saying that we should start killing babies, but at least the villagers in the book had a reason for murder. My third example is that when there is a sickness in the village and someone catches it, they burn their whole cott down. Kira's mother caught a bad disease, and after she died, Kira had almost nothing left. Our diseases aren't like that. If someone gets sick, we don't do that! It sound's like madness to us! The most we do is........ well i don't think we do anything serious. At least my family doesn't.

I think something that is uncivilized in Kira's community is the way they kick there tykes around and abuse them. It's not nice to hit little kids and shows alot about the person's character. Then when the tyke's get older they will abuse/hit there kids too. If Kira's community helped try to change this I think the tykes will not run askew.

Ok i have a reasonable explination for not finishing my blog. You see, I was doing it at recess, but the time was up so I had to go. Sorry. :( But luckily i know what part of the question i was at. Let's begin. :P
ReplyDeleteMy reasons why Kira's village is uncivilized are as follows:
1. When somebody gets sick, they do nothing to help that individual
2. When somebody in the village dies of a sickness, the villagers burn the whole cott
3. When a baby is born with a disability, they are killed on the spot before they "recieve their soul"
For the first example of their uncivilized village, there is an answer to become civilized. If somebody is sick HELP THEM! They can at least try to keep them alive for as long as they can. For the second example, don't burn the whole cott. From the discriptions in the story, I don't think the diseases they catch are contagious. If they were, how would their family members stay healthy? If you ask me, I would say they are just wasting valuable time and resources if they build a cott, JUST LIKE THE ONE THEY JUST BURNT DOWN! For the third example, sure, the baby might now be perfect, but it will probuably be helpful in its own special way. Just take Kira for example. She had a twisted leg, but she was an AMAZING threader! Just because someone is not perfect, doesn't mean they're not special.

In Kira's world the way they treat and teach their tikes is uncivilized. They let them run around like wild banshees. But when they don't do what their parents tell them they throw rocks at the tikes or slap them really hard. The tikes make the other work more stressful and make life chaotic. If the tikes would just calm down a little and the parents would just teach them better manners and maybe learn some themselves Kira's town would be a lot more civil and relaxed them maybe the people wont be so angry.

I think that for it to become civilized is for their kids to wear more clothes! (That's a start!) I don't think they should just cover the body when someone dies!!!! For Kira's civilization to become civilized the council of guardians has to tell the people of the town the truth. Then trust has to be built between the council of guardians and the towns people. Then more food has to come so the town stops fighting over table scraps like dogs in the wild. When it is know that their are no beasts the hunters can stay out longer to get more food. Also the women to the town need to nurture their children, and not throw them in a loveless cot with chickens all day. The people need to work together and then will it be civilized and together.

In Kira's world, it is uncivilized that there is no running water for any of the homes in the Village or in the Fen except for the Council of Edifice. In my opinion, I think that is greedy of the guardians and I think they should share that luxury with all of the other citizens in that area.

The things that are uncivilized in Kira's society are that they kill poeple that are perfectly imperfect. Everyone in our society is special in there own way and is treated the same: with respect. The people in Kira's world are different in society because they don't care for things the way we do. People disrespect children and dont bother washing them. They also use trenchant words towards kids. In our world we treat kids kindly so they dont get hurt. Kids are like a treasure to most people in our world. I think that for Kira and the rest of her village to have a civilized society and government they should all just learn to get along. What is uncicilized in kira's world is draggers taking dead people to the feild to die, And to get taken by beasts. That is very uncivilized in my opinion, just put the dead people in graves under ground or something! Like who does tht, i mean very uncivilized. To change it put them in graves. Another thing that is uncivilized is killing people who are unperfect. To fix that proble is like to "help the broken, make them unbroken." Another uncivilized thing is how the parents treat there tykes. They put them in pens with animals with the fence wrapped with thorns to keep them in. In Gathering Blue, the civilization is very poor.The sick and broken are treated in very inappropriete ways(taken to the field) and living conditions tend to be the oppisite of luxerious. Many people live in dirty, disgusting huts, children are abused without punishment, and lots of the humans are verryyyyyy hungery!This could be improved by the people getting new rulers, expanding their without the fear of beasts, appoint doctor and lawyer positions, ect.

I beleive that Kira's village is un civilaized because its lack of care. People dont care for their toddlers as a "prize" but as slaves. And for people who are crippled, like kira are sent to the feild of leaving by the unfair ruling of the selfish government. They show no sympathy for those who are cripple, have diseases, or even for their own tykes. The people smack the tikes willingly to teach them right from wrong. Instead of smacking teach them with words or praises. I think that if this change would be made Kira's village would be enhanced. I think things would all work out, people caring, working together. Thats what created our scociety. If they all work as a team then they would've already established "regular houses," technology, and other life enhancers.

they need to learn how to use their gut. if you think there aren't well that your opinion. the council of edifice need to learn that they arn't on the top of the world. people show have rights the same as them because all people are equal. at least half of the deaths in Kira's village is probably from Jamison. he is a sick, blood thirsty man. those couple last of chapters totally changed my perspective of Jamison. at first i was like this is great Kira is staying and has somebody that is caring, nice, and cares about her. well i was completely wrong. one little thing could change EVERYTHING!

the village is a gross place for people to live, but Kira is lucky and live in the council edifice. She lives better than anyone. When she first went there, she had no idea what a bathroom was, Thomas had to tell her. She thought she had to make her own food. The people in the village have such a worst life than Kira and Thomas have. Kira and Thomas get there food brung to them while everyone else need to grow it or buy it with little money they have. The council should take everyone's houses and make them just like the Edifife. The people are living in dirt made houses. Mabye if they had nicer houses, there attitude would change. In Gathering Blue, there are a lot of things that are uncivilized. Pretty much the only place that is civilized is the Council of Ediface. Everywhere else, especially the Fen, is not. In order for the villagers to become civilized the people living in the Ediface need to tell the rest of the people about what they know of, like running water and better shelter. This way the other people living there would know about it and the whole town could become civilized and a better place to live.

In my opinion MOST (if not ALL) of the world that Kira had to live in was uncivilized. They were selfish, cruel, HATEFUL, criticizing, individuals that had know other way to live other than the way they were taught. They were not taught to love, care, rationalize, and be fair. So if people are taught to be this way, so will their children, who might even take it to the next level, making their civilization crumble to the ground. For example, they did not love one another, unlike Kira who was taught much differently than the others in the village, partially because she wasn't LIKE everyone else.

Like Kira, yes, she was old enough to care for herself but she still qualified as a child to the village and the council of guardians. She could of been given to her uncle. But her uncle was loosing his children as well, when his wife and infant died his small daughter Mar was given away! What sense does that make? YES Mar's mother died but the father was still there! People who were sick, dying, dead, or just imperfect at birth were sent to the field,... TO DIE. A little harsh don't ya think?
The Council of Guardians (mainly Jamison) were horrible too! They lie about beasts, to frighten the people out of leaving the village so they remain in control. Jamison... JAMISON, HE WAS HORRIBLE. He kills Kira's father for power and lies TO EVERYONE about it, even the other guardians.
People should never live that way. They should have freedom from the government and well, free WILL. I think that Thomas, Kira, and Jo realized that (well maybe not so much Jo) and I think they will be the ones to make a change. Take over, start over and fix the problems the other people have made, leading the civilization into something better, fair, kind, and loved.

There are many different things that are uncivilized in Kira's village. One of them is that people have no respect for others. People will just do anything they feel like, unless it's a rule against the Council of Guardians. If they want, they will just take each others' belongings, like food and supplies, much like how the village lady took Kira's food in her garden towards the beginning of the book. Another way that the village is uncivilized is the language and manners. Most people in the village don't know proper speech, like the people in the Fen and Annabella. Unlike them, Kira, Thomas, and some other people in the village, mostly in the Council, know proper grammar and speech. People like Matt and other tykes don't know it, but they're tykes. Little. People don't know proper manners either, so they'll just do things impolitely and not even care. People in the Fen are just like that. They beg for something until they get it, and they will do just about anything for food. From the book, I think that the people from the Fen are always making deals with everyone to make it always a fair trade. They never do a favor for someone. To me, that seems pretty uncivilized. How can they fix all this? I think that for starters, the people in the village could corporate with one another and do favors. They could also show respect for others. Another way that they could fix it is if the Council of Guardians gave more food and land to the Fen, there would be less arguing over there and the deals wouldn't be a frequent. The Council, Kira, Thomas, and other people that had proper grammar and speech could even teach it to others, even tykes, so maybe they would be a more civilized village.

In Kira's world there are a lot of uncivilized events that happen throughout the village. There's stealing,and people are dragged to the field even if they're not all the way dead. Another thing that is uncivilized is that there are no real jobs. They could do lots of things to change the civilization. First of all they could try to heal the sick so there aren't as many people that are dragged to the field. Second of all they could assign jobs that fit to the person so that the jobs are done efficiently and people can enjoy what they do at the same time.
